Frequently Asked Questions

Should I take the SAT or ACT? What is the difference?
Littleton students typically take the SAT, because the SAT historically has been more popular on the East Coast. Students are also welcome to take the ACT. The two exams are similar and colleges typically do not prefer one over the other. Click here for a comparison chart.

Does Littleton offer SAT or ACT testing?
No, we do not. Fortunately, there are many testing locations nearby. Visit collegeboard.org or act.org for more information.

How many times can I take the SAT/ACT?
According to Collegeboard: "Students can take the SAT as many times as they want. We recommend that they take it at least twice—in the spring of their junior year and the fall of their senior year. Most students get a higher score the second time, and most colleges consider a student's highest SAT score when making admission decisions."

How do I send my scores to colleges/universities?
Colleges/Universities require students to send official scores directly from the College Board or ACT. Students will need to sign in to their College Board and/or ACT accounts to do this.

When do I send my scores to colleges/universities?
Soon after students apply to college/university.

I think I might qualify for SAT fee waivers. What should I do?
Junior and Senior students/families that meet the fee waiver standards set by Collegeboard should reach out to their school counselor for more information.

How do I prepare for my SAT or ACT test?

How do I get accommodations for tests?
Does your child have an IEP or 504 at LHS and plan to take the PSAT, SAT, AP, or ACT? You must apply for College Board (SAT, PSAT, AP) and/or ACT testing accommodations separately. Please email school counselors for more information. It can take up to 6 weeks for results, so please apply early. If approved, accommodations can be used throughout high school as long as the accommodations are still in place.
