What is the LPTA?
The Littleton PTA (LPTA) is a group of committed parents and teachers who work together to enrich the education of the students in the Littleton Public Schools. The LPTA is composed of 4 school level committees (Shaker Lane School, Russell Street School, Littleton Middle School and Littleton High School) which report to the LPTA executive board. Each school level committee is composed of school representatives (both parents and teachers) and oversees PTA activities at each individual school.  Each school level committee chooses a lead rep to report to the executive board. The executive board  (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chair, lead rep for each school) oversees PTA functions for the entire Littleton school district.

President (executive board)
Presides at LPTA meetings. Coordinates officers and committees; prepares agenda for monthly meetings.  

It is highly recommended that this candidate has actively served in the executive board for at least one year
Vice President (executive board)
Aide to president; performs duties of the president in the absence of that officer. No experience necessary.
Secretary (executive board)
Records minutes at monthly LPTA meetings and provides copies to LPTA board members. Position can be shared, alternating meetings covered.
Treasurer (executive board)
Custodian of all funds. Maintains checkbook, financial records, and reports financial status at monthly meetings.
Membership chair (executive board)
Coordinates the membership drive, collects membership dues and maintains the membership list..
School Representatives
Help coordinate PTA-supported programs and events; make decisions concerning allocation of PTA funds; shape school experience by providing curriculum enrichment, assisting staff, and organizing community-building activities; represent the school on the executive committee.  No experience necessary. Participation by parents of students at all grade levels is highly encouraged.  Parents of incoming students enthusiastically welcomed.

In compliance with Littleton Public Schools’ CORI Policy, every volunteer must complete a Criminal Offenders Record of Information (CORI) form before beginning volunteer activities in the schools. This can be done at the Superintendent’s Office anytime between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
