Welcome to Shaker Lane School |
|

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends, Welcome to the new school year at Shaker Lane. Our school is a wonderful Pre-K to Grade Two school. Here at Shaker Lane, we work hard to create a positive climate for all. An important part of the culture here at Shaker Lane is our HEART program. . For those of you who are new to our school, HEART stands for Honesty, Effort, Acceptance, Respect and Take Responsibility. These ideals are a clear representation of what we believe in as a school community. They represent our standards for high expectations for learning and behavior for both students and faculty. During the upcoming weeks, we will continue our discussion of these ideals at both community meetings in all of the venues of our school. Be sure to ask your child if they can sing our Shaker Lane School song, or one of our HEART songs to you. During the school year, we will have several active staff committees that engage in reflection on best practices – particularly in the areas of curriculum development, instructional planning, and effective assessment. We will also be continuing our focus on differentiated instruction. This fall, Littleton is pleased to be offering a graduate level course for staff from both the Russell Street School and Shaker Lane on the Six Traits of Writing. Please look for more information on what we all discover together about writing when you visit our school and in future newsletters. We are fortunate to have many exciting events for our families to enjoy throughout the school year. Our active PTA and staff are always looking for ways to include our entire school community. Our weekly newsletter that is sent home with students on Fridays will contain information on upcoming events as well our website. I look forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming year and to seeing you when you come to visit Shaker Lane. Sincerely, Rich Faherty |
